
Brad Burnett has served as Justice of the Peace since 2002. During this tenure he has earned the distinction of the longest serviing elected official in Jefferson County.
He has decided to run for re-election for Justice of the Peace, Precinct 7 in 2026 for a final term.
Brad is a lifelong resident of Jefferson County, and longtime resident of Port Neches, Texas. Brad met his wife Teresa in high school at PNG High School. The have been married for over 50 years. Judge Burnett played football for the PNG Indians, and went on to attend Texas A&M on a football scholarship.
He is a proud father and grandfather and cherishes his time with his family. He is an active member of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Port Neches.
Judge Burnett was a Plant Manager and owned two businsses prior to being elected as Justice of the Peace, Precint 7. However, his public service began with three terms on the
Port Neches-Groves ISD Board of Trustees. This is where he discovered his true passion for working with and
inspiring young people.
Judge Burnett created the Shining Star Award over 20 years ago to recognize kids who have found success despite great obstacles. He believes in our youth and giving them
second chances!
Judge Burnett has a wonderful staff that is committed to serving the community. They have been instrumental in helping Judge Burnett establish programs that have received widespread National recognition. An absenteeism and truancy program that they developed help curb truancy and absenteeism and ease problems for many schools. They also help the Judge design a program that improved the collection of outstanding fines and warrants. Many counties across the U.S. use these programs as models for their own programs.
The JP courts process small claims up to $20,000. Judge Burnett and his staff have created an organized system in order for all cases to be heard fairly and equitably.
Judge Burnett and his staff work well together. They all have their roles, but are cross-trained and available to help each other better serve the constituents.
Judge Burnett's involvement in the community is great from supporting chambers to non-profits, but his greatest efforts are for the kids!
